On May 2nd, a merry band of NICEM staff and supporters will be running the Belfast Marathon in aid of our Crisis Fund. We'll be running, jogging and hobbling our way to the finish line as part of several marathon relay teams, and there are even rumours of some brave souls running the whole thing...
It's all in aid of our Crisis Fund appeal. The current system of immigration legislation in Northern Ireland excludes many categories of non-UK nationals from accessing even the most basic means of support including homelessness assistance. As the government has not ring-fenced any money to help such individuals facing destitution, often voluntary sector organizations are their only source of help.
All funds raised from our Belfast Marathon run will go directly to provide temporary basic assistance to individuals in desperate situations who have no access to public funds.
