NICEM launches Human Trafficking Report
NICEM has launched a report into responses to human trafficking in Northern Ireland.
The report, prepared by Professor Tomoya Obokata of Keele University, puts forward nine recommendations for action to combat human trafficking, including the expansion of organizations designated as ‘first responders’ and the development of a consolidated statute to address human trafficking in the law.
Patrick Yu, Executive Director of NICEM, said, “We hope that this report will facilitate cross-party consensus on measures to ensure a victim centered approach to addressing Human Trafficking”
“The report analyses current responses to human trafficking in Northern Ireland in respect of human rights obligations and sets out recommendations for holistic and concrete measure to ensure that this gross violation of human rights is tackled in the most effective way possible.”
