All Party Group on Ethnic Minority Communities

The All Party Group on Ethnic Minority Communities became an officially constituted group of the Assembly in June 2008.
The group was established as a mechanism for representatives of ethnic minority communities to discuss and lobby with politicians on issues of specific concern.
There are four positions of office bearer in the APG on Ethnic Minority Communities: Chair, Deputy-chair, Treasurer and Secretary.
These positions are held by the political representatives in the group and are rotated on a six monthly basis.
The current office bearers are:
Chair: Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, MLA, Sinn Fein
Deputy Chair: Michael McGimpsey, MLA, Ulster Unionist Party
Treasurer: Anna Lo, MLA, Alliance
Secretary: Colum Eastwood, MLA, Social Democratic and Labour Party

NICEM continues to provide Secretariat support and advice on racial equality issues to the All Party Group.
The group works on a variety of issues; over the past year these have included access to healthcare, agency workers, the Racial Equality Strategy, hate crime, poverty and ethnicity, English classes for refugees and asylum seekers, and intercultural arts provision.
