NICEM plan INTEGRO Stakeholder Forum
The conclusion of the Northern Ireland pilot project on employment and employability barriers to integration saw three community leaders from the Alliance of Filipino Communities, the Kenyan Association of NI and the former Ethnic Minority Empowerment Association represent the views and experiences of Third Country Nationals at the INTEGRO closing conference in Nicosia, Cyprus in May 2015. At the conference, all NICEM European partners came together to share knowledge and expertise based on the outcomes of their various pilot projects.
NICEM will work with black and minority ethnic-led community groups and activists to continue the strong work of the INTEGRO pilot project and plans to have a first meeting in Autumn 2015 of a new INTEGRO Forum on Employment and Employability issues, particularly recognition of qualifications and work experience and the current ESOL provision in Northern Ireland.
To register you interest in the INTEGRO Forum, please contact Patrick on 028 9023 8645.

Update: May 2014
NICEM are the lead partner in a consortium representing Northern Ireland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Cyprus, guided by the ENAR Toolkit on Integration. The INTEGRO project works to explore the political, social, economic, cultural inclusion and participation of third country nationals in Northern Ireland. NICEM have recently completed consultation with regional stakeholders from non-EU countries to inform the development of a pilot integration project, with events taking place during April and May 2014 at our NICEM regional offices informed by a concurrent survey exploring ‘Integration and a Sense of Belonging’.
In encouraging individuals to identify and prioritise the main issues, key concerns have been raised by non-EU nationals across Northern Ireland around access to training and employment, recognition of qualifications and discrimination in the workplace. The issues highlighted in these regional workshops will be used to develop a practical integration pilot project that takes into account the different realities of migration and integration for non-EU/Third Country Nationals living in Northern Ireland.
