Youth Voices Programme @NICEMNW

NICEM NW hosted more than 50 people for a presentation made by a group of young people from across Derry and Strabane on the needs and issues they are currently facing. The Youth Voices Programme began as an anti-racism and anti-sectarianism programme, but quickly became a programme focused on the policy issues (primarily economic) facing young people across our city and district. The project has been running since October 2015 and includes young people aged 15 to 18 from Donemana, Castlederg, Rosemount, Foyle Springs and the Waterside, including the Filipino and Indian communities. The presentations were written and designed by the young people themselves and made in front of a large gathering in NICEM’s North West offices on Friday, 27th May. Councillors Darren O’Reilly and Patsy Kelly attended the event and have promised to support the young people in taking their ideas forward.
