Patrick Yu, Executive Director of NICEM, has delivered an oral statement before the UN Committee on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination on the 3rd of August, 2016. This statement brings to the attention of the Committee the failure of the Northern Ireland Government to realise the rights of BME persons as required by the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
The statement focuses on the key areas of devolution, ethnic monitoring, reform of race relations law, the implications of Brexit and the threat to the Human Rights Act.
